On June 20, 1957, at 7:40pm, a tornado came whirling into Fargo's north side from the west. Minutes later, 10 persons were killed and over 100 were injured. The dead included seven children, six from one family. The tornado destroyed over 300 homes and damaged another 1000,displacing over 2,000 people. Four churches, three schools, and at least 15 commercial buildings were damaged. The total damage ran over $20 million. The photographs below show some of the damage.
