Merchants National Bank Building
In 1921,Merchants State Bank moved to a new building on the southwest corner of Broadway and Second Avenue North (122-24 Broadway). The enlarged and cropped real photo postcard to the right shows the new bank near the Black building.
The building was designed by the Hancock Brothers in a Commercial Colonial Revival style with Jacobean tabs around the windows).
The postcard bottom right shows the interior of the bank. Note the conveniently placed spittoon.
The bank moved again in 1965 to 505 Second Avenue North. A picture of that building is shown here.
The building is now (2001) a Chinese restaurant (King House Buffet). The beauty of the architecture has been obscured by some unfortunate choices on the first floor facade.
