Other Fargo hotels are listed below. In most cases, I know little more than what I describe below. The dates listed, if any, indicate the date of the telephone book, advertisement, or other documented date at which the hotel existed.
The first hotel in Fargo was a tent hotel operated by A. F. Pinkham in Fargo in the Timber. The first permanent structure used as a hotel was the Elm Tree Inn run by Clarence Martin.
As the "Gateway to the West" and the largest city on the NP railroad between St. Paul and Seattle, many travelers stopped in Fargo and many commercial travelers (salesmen) used Fargo as their headquarters. As a result, many hotels grew in Fargo.
