Fargo, North Dakota

Continental Hotel

The Continental Hotel was located on the northwest corner of Broadway and Second Avenue. J.B. Chapin was the proprietor. It advertised itself in the 1883 Fargo City Directory as "the largest and finest Hotel in the Northwest. Furnished with all modern improvements. Free buses to and from depot. Terms, $2.50 and $3.00 per day." The etching above was taken from an 1883 Fargo souvenir book.

I am not sure of the year of construction, but the hotel is shown on an 1881 street map of Fargo. It certainly would have been destroyed in the fire of 1893 if it still existed in 1893.
