Spence-Magill Hospital
The Spence-Magill Hospital (pictured above) was one of the earliest hospital in Fargo. The hospital was located at the northwest corner of Fifth Street and Ninth Avenue North [902 5th Street North] . The hospital was founded in about 1897 and managed by two nurses: Gertrude Spence and Ida Magill. Ms. Spence was a graduate of the Nurses Training School in Asbury Hospital, Minneapolis, and Ms. Magill, who came from Ontario to found a health facility. I believe that the hospital was only open for a few years.
