This enlargement of a stereoview by F. J. Haynes was taken 1879-1889 (when Haynes had a studio in Fargo). It is a nice picture of the United Block, built in 1878. The United Block was located on Front Street (Main Avenue) just east of Sixth Street. It can be seen here. The three main stores are a restaurant, J.M. Haughton's hardware store, and the Goodman & Yerxa store. [Yerxa later went on to establish a store in his own name on the southwest corner of Broadway and NP Avenue.
