This photograph, an enlarged and cropped half of a stereoview, was taken by F.J. Haynes between 1876 and 1879. The image looks southeast from the Headquarters Hotel and overlooks Front Street [Main Avenue] south of what is now Broadway.

The only legible signs are that of the third building from the right (a Billiard Hall) and the fifth (Rogers & Kimball).
