First Avenue is thought primarily as a business district but many people lived there as well. The Improvement Building, between the YMCA and the Grand Theater was principally a residential building. Similarly, the Pioneer Life Building was home to more families than businesses.
The family photo to the upper right (taken in 1947 or 1948) looks east on First Avenue and we can see Whitman's office supply store, the Store Without a Name, Royal Jewelers, and Daveau's.
The young men are Jerry Moseman and Bobby Korum. Jerry lived in the Pioneer Life Building.
The second picture down was taken at almost the same place on First Avenue. Shown are Bobby Korum and Allan Johnson.
The third picture down was taken in front of Daveau's Music Store and shows Leroy Jacobson and Bobby Korum.
