Shotwell Florists was founded in 1888. In 1898, Shotwell's moved to the east end of Northern Pacific Park facing Broadway. This lease from the railroad was given with understanding that Shotwell's would maintain the park. Shotwell's occupied this spot until March 1968 when an explosion demolished the store and greenhouse. A parking lot replaced Shotwell's which reopened on Main Avenue and in West Acres Shopping Mall.
