The Pioneer Life Insurance Building was built in 1910 and is located at the northeast corner of First Avenue North and Roberts Street.

In the lower of the two postcards, you are looking east on First Avenue from Roberts Street. On the right (south) side, one can see the YMCA, the Improvement building, and the Grand Theater. The left side you can see the L.C. Smith and Bros. Typewriter Company in the corner retail space of the Pioneer Life building. During the 1950's, I recall the Postal Pharmacy occupying the corner space.

In the upper postcard, there appears to be a statue of a bison atop the building. The statue seems hand-drawn in this postcard and does not appear in other postcards of the building. I don't think it ever existed.
