The Fargo National Bank was founded in 1897 and took over the building (above left) of the defunct Citizens National Bank. In 1911, the bank built a new building on the same site (above right). Martin Hector was the first president of the bank and served in that capacity until his death 41 years later in 1938. During the 1907 period, O.J. deLendrecie was the Vice-president.
The bank, in 1958, bought the site of the former Waldorf Hotel at the Corner of Front Street (Main Avenue) and Seventh Street South. In 1973, the bank moved again. The new site was the head of Broadway (rear view seen right). A part of the city's urban renewal program, the bank was built onthe site of the former Moody's and the Fort Hotel.
The bank became a franchise of First Interstate Bank and then, in 1992, was purchased by First Community Bankshares. It was later acquired by Bank of the West in 2004.
