The DeLendrecie's building was built in 1894 at the southeast corner of Front Street and Seventh Street South. This was a wonderful commercial location; it was across Front Street from the Northern Pacific Depot and across Seventh Street from the Waldorf Hotel.

The original building was two stories tall, as can be seen in the image above right. In 1904 three more floors were added, as can be seen in the image below right. The building design is Richardsonian-Classical. Here, as one looks east on Front Street, one can see deLendrecies to the left (with the flag) and the Waldorf Hotel to the right.

In 1955, the Merchanitle Stores Company, Inc., purchased DeLendrecie's, which kept its name.

In 1972 DeLendrecie's moved to the West Acres mall. DeLendrecie's operated at West Acres until 1998, when the store and its parent company were purchased by the Dillard's Inc. department store chain. DeLendrecie's was converted to the Herberger's banner thus ending a tradition of over 100 years in Fargo.
