Fargo, North Dakota
Welcome
It is a pleasure for the Institute for Regional Studies at North Dakota State University to host and bring you this impressive web site on historical Fargo, North Dakota. John Caron, creator of this site, donated it to the Institute in 2004. The web site, containing over 600 pages and over 1,000 images. was a labor of love for this Fargo native. Not only did Mr. Caron donate the web site, but he also donated the vast array of images and artifacts that are featured on the web site pages. When processed, the collection will be open for public research use at the Institute.
Introduction by John Caron
This site is about the history and images of Fargo, North Dakota from its founding in the 1870's until present. Descriptions and historical comments are provided on the pages with the images. The images are primarily from postcards but other sources include stereo views and printed sources from before the turn of the century. My goal is to eventually show the full history of Fargo from its founding to present although my choices are admittedly sometimes eclectic.I hope you enjoy exploring this site. I believe the information provided here is correct.
